Knee up, knee down
Hand on head
Finger in ear, then mouth
Breathing hard, gasping
Then shallow easy breaths
Dying is hard work
Not having been there before
I don’t know where to go
How to get there
A door? A moment in between?
It’s confusing
My body? What body?
Unaware of my own profound
Incontinence
The aides are an inconvenience
I cannot wake, but
Cannot go
I wait
Knee up, knee down
Losing my grip on life
