In 1986, Pope John Paul II invited representatives of the world’s 12 major religions to submit and recite a prayer for world peace at Assisi, Italy on October 26, 1986. These prayers are offered on this website, one at a time, as my expression of faith that we all have common ground in hope for a world where our grandchildren and the following generations can live in peace and harmony. I have created what I call a Universal Prayer for Peace by taking a line from each of these 12 prayers and joining them as one. This Universal Prayer for Peace will be posted after the 12 prayers are first presented. Bless us all.

Be generous in prosperity, and thankful in adversity.
Be fair in your judgment,
and guarded in your speech.
Be a lamp to those who walk in darkness,
and a home to the stranger.
Be eyes to the blind,
and a guiding light to the feet of the erring.
Be a breath of life to the body of humankind,
a dew to the soil of the human heart,
and a fruit on the tree of humility.
